Alzheimer's Society Y.T.T Training from just £48.75 per person
Any training delivered by an Alzheimer's Society Approved Trainer is globally accepted
as being of an excellent standard by the commissioning bodies.
T This course is divided into 8 sessions which run over 4 weeks.
T There is a final multiple choice question paper.
C Certificates and badges are awarded by the
Alzheimer's Society
The Alzheimer's Society Yesterday Today Tomorrow course is taught over 4 days during an 8 week period.
T There are 8 modules of which 2 modules per fortnight are taught.
F For example: Modules 1 and 2 are taught at one 2.5 hour session then, 2 weeks later, Modules 3 and 4 are taught, etc, etc.
This is to allow students to put theory into practice, reflect and evaluate prior to moving on to the next modules.
Each session is run twice in one day, i.e. 10 till 12.30 and 2 till 4.30.
This allows a maximum of 40 people to complete this course.
D During this course, each student will be expected to complete Life Story work with one of the people living in the home
There is a final multiple choice test to sit at the end of the course which is marked by the Alzheimer’s Society those who successfully complete this course are awarded the Alzheimer’s Society certificate and badge in dementia care.

Outcomes
By the end of the training participants will
Be able to understand what dementia is.
Understand that dementia may effect people in different ways according to certain factors.
Understand that quality dementia care aims to maintain what a person can still do rather than
what they are now unable to do.
Have identified methods to better understand the individual care needs a person with
dementia may require.
Understand the need for good communication and team work in providing quality dementia care.
Aims
For participants to have an insight into what the experience of dementia may be like.
To offer staff working with people with dementia an introduction to the concept of person-centred care.
To provide a basic understanding of dementia as a range of different conditions.
To provide a basic understanding of how dementia may affect a person, their behaviour, ability to communicate and the impact it may have on others.
To demonstrate that team work and support leads to better care for people with dementia and a better workplace.

Session 2: What is dementia?
Session 3: The need for good communication
Session 4: Life in the home part one – values and attitudes
Session 5: Life in the home part two – activities of everyday life
Session 6: Building and maintaining relationships
Session 7: Understanding behaviour we find difficult
Session 8: Working together to quality dementia care successful
Session 1 looks specifically at attitudes towards people with dementia and what it might be
like to experience dementia and the impact it has.
Session 2 aims to give participants more knowledge about the causes, signs and
symptoms of dementia.
Sessions 3 to 8 aim to give participants a chance to examine their attitudes and opinion
of the topics covered, provide background information to help conclude on what has been learnt and then
offers practical ideas and methods of putting this learning into practice.

FEES:
YTT is charged at rate of £1950.00 (maximum of 40 people) plus travelling expenses at 40p per mile, plus examination papers - current price £23.00 per paper.
